photosinensis: It's the 100x100 version of XKCD #353 (Default)

Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along.

These interests were provided by [personal profile] flourish.

1. blasphemy for fun and prophet: Once upon a time, I was a wee ickle college student. I fell in with a group of people that called themselves the Society for the Proliferation of Obscure Occult Knowledge. It was essentially a group of mystics, occultists, and people interested in comparative religion. One thing that the group did (and its members still do) is make outlandish claims about religions that many would consider blasphemous. One of my favorites is "My God is a zombie God: he died for our sins and came back from the dead. He wants us to drink his blood and eat his brains." We do this mostly to amuse ourselves, but occasionally will put out a tip jar (when we're really broke--normally our tarot readings are free).

2. Molly Lewis (sweetafton23): She's a YouTube ukulele girl that I happen to like. Occasionally she writes songs about things like a somewhat mean-spirited desire for your kids to see what your MySpace looks like right now, hanging out with Mr. T, and metal songs about Peeps. Also, she's known for her Jonathan Coulton covers.

3. My Liberal RageTM: This one arose around the time of the 2004 election, when LiveJournal's [livejournal.com profile] luna_k started up her political blog. We were rather annoyed at the direction the country was taking (into the toilet), and we weren't going to take it anymore.

4. Random Acts of Randomness:

5. Mudkipz: I liek them. Not only are they the cutest of the third generation starter Pokémon, but they have this whole badass demeanor about them. I mean, how could you not liek something that looks like this:

Also, nobody expects the Mudkipz. Ever. I mean, when was the last time you saw one of those things randomly show up at a serious event?

6. Camp: Here, I generally mean it in the sense of the comedy style generally associated with drag queens and gay men. I don't know why, but I frequently find myself drawn to such kinds of entertainment.

7. Paul and Storm: Paul and Storm are a musical act, generally comedic in nature, and usually find themselves opening for Jonathan Coulton. They tend to do songs about things like boxing nuns, being an opening band, and long pirate setups for dick jokes. Memorably, their mothers' day song is one long thanks to mom for having sex with dad instead of feigning a headache or being too tired. Also, they have a series of theme songs in the style of Randy Newman. Recently, they've been in a songwriting competition, during which they've called out mafia hits on Neil Innes and Garfunkel and Oats (the other competitors in the professional bracket), only to be attacked by dingos under the command of the aforementioned Molly Lewis (the winner of the amateur bracket). They survived the attack and return this week to face Lewis in the final round.
